I've always thought that talking to yourself is just fine. After all, once in a while you need to talk to someone smart. However, when you start believing what you hear you might be verging on crazy.
Talking to yourself and even answering yourself, is really just thinking out loud. Now if you are talking to people who are not really there, then you should see a mental health professional.
Talking to yourself is normal. Mostly. Depression is common but definitely not normal. If you're depressed you need to talk to a professional.

Type your question 0-250 less. Press Next, choose your Topic. Post. Give it 10 seconds to post. Press Edit and add more details. I do it all the time.

Why not just say, "I doubt it."
I suspect that is a true statement and hardly one that they can argue with.
